hi,
my grandson restarted his pc ( after not using it for
six months ).After running pcpitstop where this virus was
detected He updtaed his anti virus program and it found
the virus(welchia/nachi worm).
Before the program could finish scanning a box came up
saying the pc would shut down in sixty seconds.
Since then nothing works. Windows xp starts and shuts down
right away.
If any one could help on this matter I would appreciate it
very much.
Is there a site I could try to get a patch for this virus?
I know from searching, this virus is due to shut down in
2004 but not what date.
Also I would like to know if, by trying to remove this
virus he actually activated it, because he had no problem
before.
Thank you for any advice you can give me.

As soon as you log on to the system and before it shuts
down do the following. You should have enough time to do
this. but remember, the clock is ticking...

1. click on the start button and then on run and type the
following. "shutdown -a"
That is going to stop the pc from shutdding down.
2. if you have an high speed interenet connection and i
hope you do go to: www.zonelabs.com and download the
latest FREE version of zone alarm.
3. unisntall whatever version of anti virus you have on
your workstation and go to www.grisoft.com and donwload
the lastest FREE version of AVG
4. after AVG restarts and updates it's self the virus will
be toast. But now your going to have to download the all
the windows patches available from WWW.windowsupdate.com

Have fun, this virus is noting..
