loaded XP PRO. Worked great until I accepted the MS SP-1
update download. When this download installed itself and
rebooted, the following appeared in a dialog box.

msmsgs.exe - Unable To Locate Componant
X This application has failed to start because
RPCRT4.mll was not found. Re-installing the application
may fix the problem.

It appears and when acknowledges reappears at intervals.
Killing it in Task Manager works, but warns other things
may be affected.
What can I do to fix it?

THANKS FOLKS! I did the sfc /scannow trick and that
seemed to have reset the offending file. However, I will
keep your tip on file. Great info! Thanks again!

msmsgs.exe is Windows Messenger. Try removing it under Windows
components, since it appears you don't use it.
