When I try to open a created word .doc I get this meesage "the document
"'blah blah blah' has caused a serious error the last time it was openned.
Would you like to continue openning it?" when I hit "yes" I get the send
error report which I find annoying since I can not get any files open that I
have saved in the past. this was working fine for one month after I purchased
this machine and now I can not get into any of my documents. I did have a
problem stating it did not have my product key which I called and found that
and registered it, but now I have a problem again getting into my stored
files. I paid a great deal of money for this package as we all know and I
dont feel this is something that I should have to pay to obtain additional
help since this is not even a year old this si snew and should work fine!I
attempted to install my word 2000 but I can not find the product key for
that, so Im backed into a wall to figure out why this problem has occured!
I work as computer tech support and this is not something "normal" in
trouble shooting..I have even tried toopen fiels stored on my cd and I was
able to open them but now have the reoccurring situation happening every
time i attempt to open any document from within word. I have walked through
the trouble shooting I do not have Norton.. I have nothing in start up..
1.
If you are using Office 2000 SR-1 or SR-1a, and all Office applications
quit without an error message as soon as they open ...

2.
If Word crashes as soon as it opens ....

a)
Check for template corruption

b)
Check for a corrupt registry key

c)
Check your printer driver

d)
Check for conflicts with Norton AntiVirus

3.
If Word opens very slowly...

4.
If you get an error message as soon as Word opens, but it doesn't crash
(e.g. “Compile Error in Hidden Moduleâ€) ...

none of these steps help me
any suggestions!
thank you Linda D

Do all the steps in the article even if you don't think they apply to you.
Most problems in Word are caused by a corrupt Normal.dot template, damaged
Registry Data key, or add-ins.
