modem driver and standby

My parents computer will not go into standby because the modem driver is
preventing it from doing so. I changed the driver from the one for the
modem with a generic driver, but it still happens. Can someone help me
please? I could walk my mother through removing the modem completely if I
have to as it is no longer needed now that she has cable internet, but I'd
rather fix the driver.

The modem is a Conextant.

Thanks,

Hi, Eddie. Have your mother go into Device Manager (from the System
applet in Control Panel) and find the modem's entry. Then have her
double-click it to get its Properties. There will be a place to
"disable in this power profile" and let her do that. If she uninstalls
the modem, Windows is just going to find it again every time she starts
the computer.
