My restore function has disappeared and because of that I can't get rid of some trojans I have. Is there a way to reinstall it without completely reinstalling windows xp? Also I have heard that the windows xp has a fix feature in it, does anyone know how to use it? Thanks.

What fix feature are you referring to?
Enable system restore:Go to control panel and
open "system" you will see the system restore
tab,uncheck "turn off system restore".
Using system restore is not the way to remove trojans, you
need a trojan scanner,or anti-virus software.

Thank you for your reply. The problem is that in system the system restore tab is gone. When I try other ways to turn the feature off I get this message: The Procedure Entry Point RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be located in the dynamic link library Winsta.dll. I realize System Restore does not get rid of Trojans but by not being able to turn System Restore off and then rebooting, the trojans keep coming back after the virus program removes them becuase they are still in the restore directory. I've seen several mentions of a fix command in windows xp but I'm not sure where to find it, thats what I was talking about. Thank you for your assistance.

Entry Point Not Found:
The procedure entry point RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be
located in the Dynamic Link Library winsta.dll
Do a search for the sr.inf file which is normally located in C:\windows. Make
sure you search hidden files in your search criteria.
Right-click on the sr.inf file and select the install option.

Thank you Taurarian for your reply. I am going to give that a try and see what happens. This has been driving me crazy. Thanks again.

Hope it works out for you Lizv.
