Missing msinfo32 Snap-in

M

Mick Richards

When I try to access System Information from System Tools
or the Management console or Advanced System Information
in Help and Support, I get the error message:
Snap-in failed to Initilize
Name <Unknown>
CLSID: {45AC8C63-23E2-11D1-A696-00C)4FD58BC3}

Then the console opens and says the snap-in failed?
How do I repair this problem?

Have you tried the run line. Go>start\run and type in
msinfo32 and hit ok. If that doesn't work try registering
the dll for it by going>start\run and type in regsvr32 /i
msinfo32.dll and hit ok. Be sure to put the space after
regsvr32 and after /i . This may not solve your problem
but if not look at the event viewer to see if your get any
red Xs in the application log and double click them to
open a details window that should point you in the right
direction. Have fun
