My computer keeps telling me that the C:/BOOT.INI file is
missing and this is preventing me from re-installing XP
Professional.
Also, I got the error msg that the file 'framedyn.dll'
does not exist or os missing.
Could someone please assist me, I really need help badly.

I really do appreciate this, thank you.

Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard Disk. Boot the XP CD and, instead
of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. Assume any password
requested is blank, and TAB over.
Give:
ATTRIB -H -R -S C:\Boot.ini
DEL C:\Boot.ini
(thus deleting the old one if any just to make sure)
BootCfg /Rebuild

That appears to arise from a path entry in the registry for a program
being missing. Easiest approach is to look for framedyn.dll (which
should be in windows\system32\wbem) and make a copy up a level into
system32
