mis-associated icons

I have the wrong icons: my *.txt and *.dat files have the
Windows media player icon associated with them. How can I
get the correct icon to my *.txt and *.dat files ?

In the Explorer > Tools > Folder options > File Types find the file
types and click Advanced > Change icon.
