Anyone know why after I installed the new critical
updates my Microsoft Outlook became Microsoft Outlook.
{00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}, that is an
archive? on my other computer i also installed the
updates but that didnt happen, so I'm wondering can
anyone help me on this?

You know theres the automactic windows update? well
theres was like 5 critical updates, I installed em, it
asked me to restart my computer so I did, and then I
notice my Microsoft outlook, (which is on my desktop),
(the icon looks like a clock and a mail, white and
brownish greenish yellow color) it turned into an archive
which is white just the plain normal archive picture, and
its not called Microsoft Outlook anymore, its called
Microsoft Outlook.{00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

Was Outlook running when you installed the updates? Was your anti-virus
application? Were you logged on as administrator?

This KB article mentions {00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}:

OL2002: You Can Block Outlook Desktop Icon Properties on Some Locked Down
Systems

Best post your query to an OL-specific newsgroup:

No it wasnt running, Yes I was logged on as admin, Not
sure what you mean by application

Have u tried to solve it by repairing Outlook only?
(detect and repair tool, under Help menu)

Archives = Useless Files, I just found out ^^; so ya that
icon is just probably outdated, but some reason when I
did the update it didnt update it oh well, and I cant
find that tool >.<

What Outlook version is it?

.

It just says Microsoft Outlook Express, never said which
version, version 5 I think though, and you know those few
little icons beside the start button? (like opening
internet explorer, window media) the Outlook launcher
from there works

If that corrupted icon is a shortcut, then just delete it
and create another one from your working Outlook launcher.

You see, The Outlook that was originally on the desktop
was the original icon, the outlook launcher is the
shortcut, so the new one have that dumb arrow which i
dont like :p

Problem solved Devin?
Ok I know your issue. Have u tried solve it by
reinstalling MS Outlook (after had uninstalled, of
course). Hilary's suggestion doesn't resolve problem at
all, that icon will remain as a shortcut ever.
Let us know

It's 23 July already?
WHOA!!!! First you talk about Outlook, but now you are saying Outlook
Express. The two are NOT, repeat NOT the same. The only thing they
have in common is the word OUTLOOK in the title.

Before you go any further, please clarify exacty which you mean.

Since this is an XP group and XP came with OE 6....

This means nothing. People come in all the times with questions NOT
relating to Windows XP. This still doesn't clarify which program the
OP was asking about.
