messenger 6.2 and ie stuck on task bar

hey there well to my question. i just recently got a game (Csi: miami) i
installed it and started playing it, all is well. I alt tab out of the game
to check on something in my internet explorer. Then after that everytime i
try to open internet explorer it opens but its stuck just to the task bar.
I click it to maximize it like you would any other program but it will not
open and now its doing it to messenger 6.2 which i also alt tab -ed out of to
read a message i had recieved. Ive tried uninstalling messenger and
reinstalling and no such luck. I need my browser and it sucks not being able
to have msn anymore.... Any ideas on whats going on. Also i ran adaware and
nortons

Without knowning more.....

Open IE. Don't choose Maximize. Close all other windows. Right click its
entry on the taskbar and choose Size. Use the arrow keys to make it the
size you want. Close it that way. Then re-open IE.
