Messages to Newsgroups

George Z. Bush

Since going on XP, I've noticed that messages I post to any specific newsgroup
no longer appear on my monitor. Now, the only way I can tell that someone has
read the message I posted is when and if somebody responds to it. Used to be
that when I posted, I could tell because it almost immediately appeared in the
NG.....no longer, unfortunately.

Is there a fix for this?

Hi, George.

Are you subscribing directly to the Microsoft public news server
(msnews.microsoft.com)? Or through your ISP's news server, which may be
simply "slurping" messages from MS and relaying them back and forth, which
often results in messages that are delayed, out of sequence or just plain
lost? If so, why not "cut out the middleman"?

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

That should bring you right back here, but connected directly, so that your
messages should show up within minutes (maybe seconds) of the time you press
Send.

Of course, you might also check Tools | Options... | Send and make sure the
Send immediately box is checked. Otherwise, OE will wait until the next
time you Synchronize the newsgroup.

Yes, simply don't killfile yourself. Good thing you are
George Z Bush, otherwise if you were Dubya, I would have
to give you a piece of my mind about how your head should
come out of your arsehole so you can see that the war in
Iraq has nothing to do with the war on terrorism.

HTH and HAND.
