Hello,

Last night all of a sudden Media Player came up with an error that
stated it could not play the file because there is a problem with the
sound card, which is a Soundblaster Live! Platinum. But Musicmatch,
Sound Recorder, Cakewalk, and Real Player work just fine. There is an
integrated soundcard on my motherboard, so I set Windows to use it.
Control Panel\Sounds\Audio setting, and Meda Player worked. Any ideas
what could have happened, and what I can do? I don't really want to
use the motherboards sound card. This problem just happened out of the
blue.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure that Media Player is fully updated. From MP itself, click
Help, and then "Check for Player Updates".
Next Open Control Panel, Sounds, Audio (Tab) and make sure the
default device is set to your SB Live. Then at the bottom of the applet
box, check the option "Use only default Devices".
Then you can disable your on-board sound device in BIOS.
