I'm thinking our network is having Master Browser wars.

Can you tell me how to turn off a WinXP box's ability to be a Master
Browser?

Copy and paste the following in the Run box, then hit enter:

control.exe appwiz.cpl,,3

When the Add or Remove Programs applet opens,
click on the down arrow to the right of Custom, then
set your desired default browser.

Carey - totally clueless response - do you even try to comprehend what
you read? Or is it just some semblance of words you are trying to decipher?

The OP is talking about the "network master browser" and not an
"internet browser", which is controlled through services.

Suggestion - why don't you put the quality of your responses over the
quantity of your responses.

Small Note: If you want to learn how to fix/do something, I'll point you to
it, but if you want me to do your work for you, it will cost you $50 USD per
hour - your choice.

Perhaps you can help me sponge Bob.

I'm being told when I try to access 3 of my logical drives on my second hard
drive. that: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in
effect on this computer. Please contact your administrator.".

I am the only user of this computer and I have administrator privileges.
What can I do to restore my access to be able to read/write to that drive?

Any help appreciated.

If you are running XP Pro, it sounds like a Group Policy has been set to
restrict access to any of the logical drives you mention. Group Policy
applies to all users on the system, administrator or not.
If you are running XP Home, I'm sorry to say I wouldn't be much help here,
as I've only seen XP Home long enough to know I didn't like/want it and
formatted and installed a retail version of XP Pro over it.

I'm running XP pro sp2. I've tried a lot of things with no luck.

I have a couple of desktops and all the other desktops work ok. But not the
main desktop that I'm using.

Can you point me in the right direction. Please. And Thank you.
