I am not happy about myself. With all the thing that I
have to do, I forgot to write down my new password that I
setup on my PC at home. It is running the Window XP home
edition. I am wondering if someone know about how to reset
that password or re-initialize. Is there a file that I can
delete or a special password that I can input. I did not
make a password reset disk.

Thanks in advance

N.B: Sorry for the grammair, I did my best for a french
cannadian to write clearly and properly.

Hi

How to Log On to Windows XP If You Forget Your Password or Your Password

If that doesn't work out, you might try to reset the local Administrator
password with one of the methods mentioned here:

http://securityadmin.info/faq.htm#password

Sorry, but it still did not reset my password. I tried
both example, following each step and nothing is
happening. It look like that every password are either
locked or expired. Also, from another PC, I attempt to
rename the SAm file to something else, and a shared
violation message appear. I tried to open the SAM file,
using an editor and it respond as the file is used by
another application. I am loosing confident of avoiding re-
installing window.

What can I do????

Hi

Did you create a bootable NTPASSWD floppy from
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd (or boot CD from
http://www.dmzs.com/tools/files/)?

You need to boot on of those and not into your Windows installation (you might
need to go into your BIOS setup to change the boot device sequence)

With this utility, you should set the Administrator password to blank.

Sorry, it finally works. I think that it could take up to
20 minutes to unlock the file and cummulative for every
attempt. Yesterday morning, I did what they suggest about
a bootdiskette ands reset all my passwords and I try after
20 minutes and no success. At 6.00 PM, I tried and the
Administrator was reset and after that, I did whenever I
need to do to remove all my passwords.

Thank very much
