for months had trouble logging off to move between 2 Admin accounts.
then it cleared up. probably due to getting smarter with updates.
Now back to old tricks. Will logoff from Task Manager, but not
Start/Logoff/Logoff.

no new SW at the time of the loss of function.

any ideas????

Perhaps there is an application running in the background or a service that
refuses to close or is taking awhile to close. How long have you waited
after clicking logoff? Go to
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_reg_edits.htm and look for 'How to
Increase Shutdown Time for Services to Close Properly.' Adjust this setting
and see if that does anything.

Do both admin accounts have trouble logging off or just one of them?
Perhaps something in your userprofile folder is causing this? Create a new
admin account and see if this account is plagued by this logoff issue.

1 yes, logoff in both directions is affected equally.

2 there IS a service that seems to be related to this. But i must
have it loaded for my VPN.

But the weird part is that that this cleared up for months, and just
in the last wk cropped up. So this is the nutty and exasperating part.

Also, why is the 'Logoff' in the Task manager more powerful?

any other light bulbs go off?
