Local Area Connections takes too long

When I boot up, the LAC takes a long time to connect.
THis is annoying because I would like to use the verizon
diaup (DSL) in the start menu and I have to wait 2-3
minutes after everything else is booted up to connect to
the internet.
My start menu includes, office, vOL dialer, outlook , e-
bay toolbar, e-color, norton and go back. I tried to put
a shortcut the connection in the start menu but that did
not work.
My Local area connection is on my mother board not a
separate adapter.
thanks in advance

This really tells us nothing. Check Event Viewer for errors. Ask your ISP
for the correct settings for your hardware.
