In using Excel, a small green triangle has appeared at top right corner
of some cells which
contain a formula. The formula works, but am puzzled about this.
The version of Excel is from Office 2003, can anyone explain this, I
would be most grateful for some help please, or should I ask "Little
Green Men ;-))
Seriously, I am asking this on behalf of a friend who does not subscribe
to newsgroups.

Hi Derrick,

Theses are Smart Tags, a feature introduced (I believe) with XP. They are
intended to have a wide range of possible uses - check help.

In this instance, they are indicative of a perceived problem in the relevant
cells. Hover over a tag and click the resultant exclamation indicator.

Hi Norman.

Many thanks for the above, I am sending it on to my friend Eugene
straight away. Regards, Derrick.
