List of recipients is truncated

Hi all
I have a distribution list in excel with about 1250 addresses on it. On
pasting these into any of the Outlook recipient fileds, the list is truncated
at 1199 entries and cuts of in the middle of the 1200th address. I have
tried re-ordering the list and removed the address, but it happens to
whichever address is the 1200th. This leads me to think some limit has been
set on the server (exchange server 2003). I don't however get an error
message about too many recipients. I haven't yet tried sending the message
but wondered if it was just a limitation on the no. of characters displayed
in the recipient fields and it would still go out to all of them. Has
anyone else experienced this ?

Thanks
Angela

Might I suggest a different method? Have your Exchange Admin import that
spreadsheet into the Active Directory as external recipients and just build
a DL for it?

That way you don't have to worry about the size of the To field, or any user
receiving an email with all 1250 entries on the To/CC field because someone
neglected to put the addresses into the BCC field.

If I had to guess, yes, you're dealing with a size limit on the field and
likely no one else would get the message beyond that last address. Frankly,
if I was mailing to anything over 50 addresses regularly, I'd be looking at
a server based solution rather than client.

Thanks for the suggestion but not practical as the list changes every time.
We have now discovered that you can paste the address list into the field in
2 parts and they all go in and all get sent, which leads us to believe that
the limitation may be with the Windows Clipboard?
