Hello,

I have 2 PC's XP Home & XP Pro with SP1. They are currently set-up
for file and print sharing, and share Internet access via DSL Router.

I now wish to add another PC which is currently 98SE, but I will be
upgrading to XP Home shortly. However with this "new" PC I "only"
want it to share the Internet connection, I do not want it to see
the existing 2 PC or shares/printers..

Is this possible?
Is there something I have to do on the existing PC's
or Something on the new PC

I will have software firewall on each PC,
I thought of not adding this new PC to the trusted zone.
Probably not the most elegant solution.

Any ideas on how to do this properly?

Many Thanks - David

What's wrong with the "trusted zone" solution?

Here's another possibility: after getting the 98SE computer on the
network:

1. Go to Control Panel | Network.
2. Double click "TCP/IP->network adapter".
3. Click Bindings.
4. Un-check all of the boxes.

Of course, anyone who knows how can re-check those boxes and re-enable
file sharing.

After you upgrade to XP Home, you can disable network access and
prevent other users from re-enabling it: give them "limited" user
accounts, not "administrator" accounts, so they can't change the
network settings.
