My keyboard works fine until after I have successfully
typed in my Windows XP password. Before that time, the
cap locks and num-lock lights will change as I toggle
those respective buttons. After I type the Windows
password and can see the desktop, the keyboard stops
working all together. Moreover, the numlocks and caplocks
lights no longer toggle on and off.

I would be grateful for any help.

Thanks,

Thanks,

.if your keyboard has a usb connection then you need to
establish the connection though new hardware detection
the easiest way is to unplug keyboard turn pc on and off
then replug in keyboard and the wizard should detect it
and install for you

Filter Keys is on. Control Panel, Accessibility Options, turn it off.
Common problem thanks to what M$ has decided is best for us; hold down
the shift key for so many seconds, a dialog box saying do you want to
enable Filter Keys pops up and guess what the default choice is? Press
enter and it's enabled. Bonehead M$ programmers. Reminds me of cartoons
of boyscouts trying to help an old lady across the street and the old
lady beats the insistant kid up `cause she niether needs nor wants any
help and he won't leave her alone.
