keeping 2 windows open

I would like to be able to keep two windows open at the
same time, to copy information from one to another,
without needing to switch back and forth from the
taskbar. Usually, when I make window A active, window B
disappears, its icon appearing on the taskbar. Can I
force both windows to stay open? thanks

Right click on the taskbar choose
Cascade Windows
Tile Vertically
Tile Horizontally
what ever one you choose will allow both windows open on the desktop
 
If you resize each of the windows so that they take up
half of the screen each, you will be able to place them
side by side on your desktop and copy information between
them without them disappearing.
