That's very unusual. Are you SURE that what is going to your "sent items" is
in fact the emails that you have recieved? If they are, when do they get
transferred to the sent items folder?
Then there must be a setting in Tools-Options that is checked. Have a look
in Tools-Options-Email Options and Advanced Email Options about saving
messages with original or someting similar.
Are you ABSOLUTELY sure that what you are seeing is not the sent mail saving
in the sent items folder and that you have a view of "unread messages" set
on your inbox? That would cause the received emails to "disappear" after you
hit "send" on the reply?
