I can't save from Word 2003 on my WinXP SP2 computer to a shared folder on a
Win98SE computer my network. The exact situation and error message is
described in KB895900.

The article says a Hotfix is available. How do I get it?

An email to MS Support (Windows XP) with the above info came back with a
suggestion to call someone else involved with Servers. Arghh.

John

Have you considered following the instructions in the KB article and
requesting the hotfix?

Hi Richard,

Believe it or not, that's the very first thing I did following the link in
the KB article. The answer I got was not how to download the hotfix but that
I should call a Windows Server specialist at Microsoft.

I replied (via forwarding as instructed) that the problem was with Windows
XP and not a Windows Server version and that I just wanted the specified
hotfix. I'm waiting to hear the response.

MS phone number for hot fixes in USA - 800-936-5700

If you are not in the USA, I don't have a number for hot fixes, but do
have this link to MS International Support:

http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

Thanks Malke. I'll give that a try. I thought I had an easy one-step email
MS and get download site for Hotfix since my problem was exactly what the KB
article described, but it's been a bit harder. :-)

Doing anything support-related with Microsoft via email is painful and slow.
Make the phone call and you'll likely be amazed at how quickly it goes - and
if you truly need the hotfix and don't ask for anything else there is never
a charge for this service.

Thanks Richard and all others. I called and have the hotfix I needed. No
charge of course, and very nice folks on the support lines.

Definitely for hotfixes calling is the way to go rather than email.
