I have been working with several clients that is experiencing issues with
patch KB885250.

Unable to see complete list of files and folders on network share after
patch in installed.

I removed the patch and everything works as expected.

re-apply the patch problem is back, I also tested from the Command prompt to
verify this problem.

From the information pasted below it shows that I can issue the "dir"
command by itself and no files or folders are reported.

I can issue a "dir *.exe†and it returns all executable files.

Gary,

Microsoft has developed a hotfix for one known problem caused by the KB885250
update. Your primary symptoms don't fit this case, though the underlying
symptom (KB885250) does.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895900

Of course, they provide it as "...only intended to correct the problem that is
described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this
specific problem...".

Whether or not your specific circumstance applies to KB895900, I think you'll
have to contact Microsoft PSS, and see if they can help.

Hello Chuck,

Thank you for the response, I did call MS and obtain hotfix
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895900, and it did not fix the problem, so I
am looking for other ideas that may fix this problem.

Gp

Gary,

Thanks for letting us know. You're in a group of several dozen who have posted
on this forum, and probably hundreds others in various other forums.

Everybody's exact circumstances are different - the one common factor is
applying the KB885250 hotfix. So far, just KB895900 from Microsoft, even
acknowledging that there's a problem with KB885250.

BTW, Gary, posting your email address openly will get you more unwanted email,
than wanted email. Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself
a bit safer when posting to open forums. Protect yourself and the rest of the
internet - read this article.
