Hello, and thank you for the help. Today, when I tried
to shut down, I get a message that said "program not
responding DVLDR" and then I hit quit and it popped up
about six times and kept asking my to quit the program.
It finally shut down. Next time I booted up, I noticed
that the startup screen (the ones that flash by before
windows loads) said I only had 128 MBs of RAM but I know I
have 256. Related or not? THEN to make things worse, I
opened the box, took out the memory and reinserted them (I
thought maybe one was loose beceause I recently installed
a new video card in a slot nearby). Now, when I try to
start the comp., the motherboard makes a weird beeping
alarm noise and I get the black screen of death! Any ideas?

Sounds like one of your RAM sticks has died.

The RAM may not be properly seated in the slots. Remove the RAM,
re-insert and while you're in there make sure your video card and other
cards are well seated in their slots. If still no go try replacing the RAM.
