Is there any way to manually turn off the screen in Windows?

My laptop can't turn off its screen when I close the lid. It was able to do
so previously. I can't find any trigger to shut the laptop. Is there any way
to manually turn off the screen in Windows?

It's a bit unwieldy but try -->control panel -->display -->screen saver
-->power and set it to power down quite quickly? Or doesn't that work
on lap tops?
