Is there a symbol for "not equal"?

I'd like to use the opposite of "=" (e.g. a "=" with a slash through it)

If you have Word 2002 or 2003, then try typing 2260 and pressing
Alt+X.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it's not working. (type 2260, press
enter, go back to cell that contains 2260, press and hold 'Alt' and press X
key... nothing happens) :-(

2. Cell??? As in Microsoft EXCEL cell??? This newsgroup is
for questions about Microsoft Word, and my suggestion should work
in Word 2002 and 2003, but not in Excel.
3. If you are talking about a Word table cell, then where do
you see me say to press Enter?
