IP renew not working

K

Kyle Bellamy

Hey everybody,

Got a problem and I hope we can find an answer. My computer recently began
losing it¹s connection to the cable modem. So far I have done this:
-new modem
-ipconfig with the renew and release deal
-re-installed XP home completely
-new NIC card
-bought EtherFast USB adapter (which works)

Every time I try to use anything NIC related it loses it and can¹t renew the
IP address. I restart the computer and ipconfig tells me it found the DHCP
host and has an IP but from that point on I can¹t get any response. When I
do the release and then renew, it just sits for a while and comes back with
a 0.0.0.0 as the IP address.

Any thoughts?
