I am trying to connect up my XBOX through my computer using internet sharing.
I know this can be done as a friend is using it, the problem is that when I
try to create a shared connection I receive an error. The error reads "an
error occured, the dependency service or group failed to start".
I have gone into system manager and checked under services and opened
connection sharing manager. When i choose to start this application it comes
up with "error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start". I
have also choosen for it to automatic start, but it still won't start. When
I go into the dependencies tab in REMOTE ACCESS AUTO CONNECTION MANAGER
PROPERTIES, I can only see in the top field Remote Access Connection Manager
and Telephony.
In the box below it is blank, is this my problem or is it something else?
If this is my problem then what should be in this field?
Thanks for any help, I am so keen to start playing XBOX Live.

I'm sure someone will pop in with an answer about ICS - I'm not skilled
with ICS so I'll leave that to them. However, I'd like to suggest you
drop ICS and just get yourself a cable/dsl router (I'm assuming you
have broadband if you want XBox Live). If the XBox is in the same room
as your cable/dsl modem, all you will need to do then is connect the
XBox to the new router with an ethernet cable and it will work without
needing the gateway PC on. In my experience, ICS can be iffy and you
don't want any possible interference when you are playing Halo2!

I hear you, Nigel. When I come across those situations, though, I
usually ask myself - will I manage to fritter away the $40-50 (usd,
sorry) on something else instead of spending it on tech? Guess what I
answer myself?! OK, sometimes I buy both, but since I'm a woman AND a
geek what do you expect? ;-0

Our setup for XBox Live is - 8-port Linksys ethernet router with an
additional Linksys Wireless G Access Point. The XBox is in the other
room, so I have a Linksys Wireless Game Adapter, which was a lot more
money that a cable/dsl router. But The Kid must have his XBox Live,
right?

Cheers,

Malke
