Internet Sharing HELP!

D

David A. Mathew

Hey everyone here's my situation:

I have two NIC's in my PC. The first NIC is a wireless card that connects to
my campus' wireless network (it usually gets an ip like 10.1.7.67 with a SNM
of 255.255.254.0). In order to log onto my campus network I have to use a
VPN client to establish a connection and then I'm good to go getting on the
internet. The second NIC in my computer is connecting to a wireless access
point via ethernet, the addresses for the access point network are in the
192.168.0.xx range. What I'm trying to accomplish is using my PC as a router
to allow my laptop and other computers on the access poin network to share
the internet connection of my PC's campus VPN connection. My problem so far
seems to be this: the wireless internet NIC works fine and I can give the
regular ethernet card an ip of 192.168.0.2 and a SNM of 255.255.255.0 when I
leave the gateway and DNS blank the internet still works but my PC can't see
any of the computers on the wireless access point's network and they can't
see my computer either. However, when I put in a gateway or DNS for the
ethernet card my wireless internet NIC stops working and I can't go anywhere
on the web, however then I can see my computers on the ethernet network. So
my question is, is there a way that I can get my PC to have both a
functional internet connection on the one NIC and also be able to be
connected to the access point's network on the other NIC? Is this just an IP
addressing problem? If so how should I change my access point's IP
addressing so that it doesn't interfere with my internets connection? Please
send responses to (e-mail address removed) or back to the group. Thanks
everybody, your advice is greately appreciated!! :)
