I all of sudden don't have Internet Explorer website history tracking for
past days. It will track websites for today until I shut my computer down
but when I restart it the website history starts over. I had this trouble
before. I'm using McAfee virus scan 8 but in the past it was from using
version 6 where there was a setting in the properties that made it interfere
with website history. If anyone has any clue what the problem could be
please let me know. What registry key controls that? I had a spyware issue
also and that may be what caused the trouble this time. Thanks for your
help.

Hi Jeff,

I have seen this behavior caused by McAfee and from the date and time being
incorrect. Checkpoints and Suggestions:

Check to be sure that your date and time is correct. Also, if you are using
McAfee, this will help:

McAfee gave this solution to the bug where VirusScan 6 stops your
Internet Explorer History file working.

Open VirusScan console
Select "Pick a task..."
Select "Change my VirusScan settings"
Select "Configure VShield background scanning"
Select "Customise your VShield settings"

Select the "Internet Filter" icon from the icons down the left hand side On
the "Detection" tab, in the 'Applet filters' section, remove the tick next
to "ActiveX Controls".

If this is not the case, run this edit:

Prevent IE History from Being Removed - Undo (Line 101)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Note: If you are using the Personalized Favorites Menu, Internet Explorer
automatically hides site that are rarely visited from the Favorites menu.

I used that tweak from Kelly's Corner like you suggested and it hasn't fixed
the problem. Can you tell me what registry key controls the IE history and
what exactly that registry key should look like? I had a problem with
spyware and managed to totally eliminate it and I think that may have left
that registry key out of whack. Anyway, I appreciate your help.
