I am having trouble when I go to msn.com. I am using IE 6
and every time I go to MSN.COM I get this message "Internet
Explorer encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience." I have to close the browser.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks.

Abe

I am having this same problem! It began today. When I
tried to log into a secure site, I wasn't able to, and
there was a message that said, "The most recent Internet
Explorer security update 832894 (MS-04-004) or hotfix
821814 from Microsoft can cause login failures".

So I downloaded the fix, which is Q831167.exe found here:

BD38215C74B2&displaylang=en

Now the IE browser crashes whenever I try to go to
msn.com. I guess since Microsoft created this problem in
the first place, it is a subliminal message to avoid their
own website.

I ran Spybot S & D, after seeing the suggestions in other
posts, but it has not solved this problem.

I run on ME. I first encountered this problem in December
when I decided to use the MSN beta web site (then in
development). I changed the default reference back to the
original (non-beta) site, and everything worked fine
again. I sent an email to Microsoft explaining the
problem. I got no answer, of course. My problem cropped
up again this week. I think Microsoft implemented the
updated MSN website which continues to contain the same
problem as the beta. You'd think they'd post a message to
all users on their microsoft website regarding how to fix
this. I suspected it might be a spyware problem or a
targeted virus of some kind, but my virus software didn't
find anything and all other websites work great and load
very fast. I chase spyware off my computer all the time,
so I am farily confident the issue is unique to MSN.
