Everytime I atempt to install Windows XP Pro instead of
getting the "Welcome to Setup" screen I get:

"An unexpected error (0) occurred at line 1768 in d:\xpsp1
\base\boot\setup\archisp.c."

"Press any key to continue"

After pressing any key the whole thing happens again!

According to my research, this error message occurs because of damaged random access memory (RAM) modules or a damaged RAM
slot.

In order to resolve this issue, I suggest you try the following methods. Check the issue after completing each of the steps.

- Remove one or more of the RAM modules in your computer, leaving at least the minimum amount of RAM required for Windows XP
installation. If this resolves the issue, either replace these modules with new RAM modules or reinsert them after Setup is completed.

NOTE: Verify that your computer's performance is not affected when you reinsert the old RAM modules.

- Install the RAM modules into different (unused) RAM slots in your computer.

- If you still experience problems before or after Setup, replace all of your computer's RAM modules with new RAM modules.

Did you have a network connection or network patch cable
attached to the system when you tried to load it, if so
DISCONNECT THE PATCH CABLE! You do not load hardware
BEFORE THE OPERATING SYSTEM, EVERY WINDOWS SYSTEM I KNOW
OF AND RUN WILL CORRUPT THE REGISTRY WHEN YOU CONNECT
ANYTHING TO THE COMPUTER DURING RELOADING OF THE
OPERATING SYSTEM WITH EXTERNAL DEVICES ATTACHED! THE ONLY
ITEMS THAT SHOULD BE CONNECTED TO THE SYSTEM DURING LOAD
UP ARE AS FOLLOWS: MONITOR, MOUSE, KEYBOARD. You can
connect the remaining devices once it is loaded.
