Hi,

Is there some straightforward way, in Office 2003, of inserting an Excel
chart as an object into a Word document. I can't find anything in the Word
help files that is in any way useful or explanatory. Any help much
appreciated.

Hello Roy,
This is how it works in Office 2003; could be slightly different with other
versions
a) to make a chart from scratch
From the menu: Insert|Object; select Microsoft Excel Chart on the Create New
tab
A small Excel windows is displayed with a sample chart
Click the Sheet1 tab in this window and enter your data
Go back to Chart tab and do any editing your need (e.g. remove legend,
change shape of markers, etc)

b) to insert chart form existing file
From menu:Insert|Object; open the From File tab
Type file path & name or browse to tell which file to use
When the object is inserted you may need to open it (double click) to open a
Chart Sheet

best wishes from another colony!

Thanks,
I've tried b) but to no avail. I'm unable to get the chart out of the
Excel worksheet. The frustrating thing about this is that somehow with the
first chart I placed in the document I'm working on actually came over as
an object and I can't see how I did it!!

Hi Roy,

Just copy the chart from Excel and in Word use Edit/Paste Special and
select "Microsoft Excel Chart Object". If you want it linked to the
Excel workbook then use the Paste Link option.
