After applying latest windows service patch for my home windows2000 server I
experienced the following anamolies and event log entries
nntp, http, smtp services failed
DNS is failing my home network even though it looks like it is running ok
When I try to open IIS MMC (or any other method) It does nothing. meaning I
click on it bit nothing happens.

Im at work now and this is just a home system(serving a duplex) with a mix
of 6 clients( linux,xp, and mac). I dont know what else got fubar'd but it
is pretty bad. Until this update, I had it humming pretty good(never a
bad event in the ol event log) before this bastardly MS update. Im sorry I
dont know the exact one it just came up new on Saturday and Im not there
now.

Anyone know of an issue with recent updates? if I uninstall will it reverse
the damage as well or should I go to failsafe plan(restore last weeks ghost
image)

regards
craig

It would be worth a try to reinstall it. If that does not help, then restore from
image and if you want to try again do so in safe mode. You might want to try running
netdiag first to see if any failed tests provide a clue. Since you had the foresight
to have a backup, I would not waste too much time trying to track the problem
down. --- Steve
