IE6 pull-down menu removal.

A pull-down menu - "Main Links" - suddenly appeared on the menu bar (located
next to "Help"). I'm not sure if this is a standard add-in tool or a gimmick
that crept in via uninvited pop-ups etc. This pull-down menu contains a
couple of links to gambling sites. I want to get rid of this pull-down menu
and/or the links, but have no idea how to go about doing this? I just
installed the Google toolbar of which has a pop-up blocking feature.

Help will be greatly appreciated from anyone.

Regards,
Joe

Hi Joe,

Seen this issue before. Can you run HijackThis and send the log to me. You
need these tools to eliminate malware from the system.

How to safe-guard my system from spyware?:
http://www.winxptutor.com/antispy.htm
Note: Spyware removers are rules-based and are updated very frequently as
and when new malware is discovered. Therefore, update both of these tools
before scanning, very important.

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
SpyBot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe

Download the latest versions of this tool *AND* also update the database
immediately before running a full scan. If that does not help, download
HijackThis from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/ Generate a log using
HijackThis and visit any of these forums below to post your HijackThis log.
The experts there will guide you how to remove the spyware from your system:

After doing the spyware cleanup as suggested by Ramesh, and the menu is
still there....
You will have to edit the registry to get rid of that entry in IE's menu.
It will be under the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions

Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if
a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring
the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key"
Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

Hi Jon,

The extensions would normally be present as sub-menus under Tools or in the
Standard toolbar. It looks like there is a separate main-menu entry named
"Main Links". Just wondering where in the registry it's implemented.
