Where can I get a download of IE6?
All I could find was SP1 updates.
My neighbors IE is not working, she tried to remove
and reinstall from the add/remove panel in winXP.
Any help?
thanks. John

Don,
Thanks for the response. I have been away for a while and just now returned
home.
As for her problem.....
She can connect to her broadband, but when clicking on her browser, the
browser opens and closes many, many times
without actually going to a site. I saw about 35 open browsers before I
could close the browser (using task manager).
The sites don't appear to be anywhere she recognizes!
Thank you again for the help.

John,
I had a feeling... ;-)
Try this...
From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to work.

Or.. you might also be able to browse and download programs from the address
bar of Windows Explorer.

Download and run Run CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
CWShredder is only about 125 KB so it could be downloaded from another
machine onto a floppy disk if necessary.

Then download, install, *update* and run both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items listed in red-others are
optional.)
Both programs should be updated after installation- before use.

If these programs don't remove the malware, HijackThis should be used to
post a log to the appropriate forum at one of these sites.

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

But, many problems don't require a reinstall. Can you post the problems
she's having?
