IE Window opens small

What determines whether an IE window will open full screen of in a smaller screen, which I then have to maximize? When I'm on a website, and I click on a link, a new window will open, but often it opens in a small window. Can I set IE somewhere to always open full screen?

Go to http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/ietips.htm

Look for "Opening Internet Explorer Full Size"

This will show you how to retain the full size and also sorts out any
registration corruption if that is the cause for the problem.
