XP Curious
A week ago or so, I noticed that my other browser, Netscape, was
running slower than usual when loading pages that had a lot of
graphics. Text loaded very quickly, as usual. So, I tried IE,
thinking that it would work better than Netscape. Well, IE is in far
more serious trouble than Netscape. It takes ages to load. In
addition, when using any browser, other software, such as Winamp,
totally freaks out, to the point of sometimes crashing.
Thinking that maybe I had spyware or viruses or trojans, I ran all the
requisite (and updated) programs and have come up clean.
However, on shutdown, I sometimes get a message that asks if I really
wish to rename the read-only file "hosts" to "hostsagf."
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas on what I can do?
