hi,
well the real problem is IE6 itself.i try to close popups
even when internet is not connected but a 404 error
of "URL not found comes up" and 4 to 5 copies of this come
up in IE 6.

now when i try to use IE 6 for opening any website,i get
an error message "IE caused errors and needs to close
down"..and the file it mentions is msshadow.dll.

last but not the least i find the file size of IE in
add/remove programmes as 0 KB even when i reinstall it
from there, however actual folder size is bigger.

when i tried to download and install the MS support
downloaded file for IE, i get message ,,,higher version
present..setup cannot continue.

too many problems ..than god i have netscape.
but need IE for many windows applications.
i woukld really appreciate the help

Open the Internet Options applet in Control Panel
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" on the Advanced tab.
You may also have to set the Home Page to about:blank

Then eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
