Identify e-mails to be deleted automatically after being read

Sometimes you read an e-mail, but don't want to delete it instantly because
you want to keep it for a certain amount of time. Microsoft should implement
a control attached to each e-mail so the user can decide to automatically
delete an e-mail after reading it (or possibly after a certain amount of time
has elapsed after being read, for example a week or a month). This would
help eliminate clutter in the inbox without the user having to manually go
back and review all e-mails.

And would you like Microsoft to wipe your bottom for you?

My post was intended to be a suggestion to Microsoft. If they feel it
convenient and feasible to implement something similar to what I suggest so
be it. Microsoft works hard to implement features that automate functions.
However, it is a shame that there are people in this community such as
yourself that need to respond in such a vulgar manner. Apparently, you have
nothing important to contribute and have too much time on your hands. Go get
a job!

While I see some merit in your suggestion, how would it be significantly
different from clicking Delete when you are done reading and using
AutoArchive to remove older messages?

The difference for me is that with an instant delete, the message is erased
(even though I can recover it from my Deleted Messages folder). The Auto
Archive alternative is more of a blanket delete. What I envisioned is a more
individualized option to allow for flexibility. I may want to save some
messages until a certain date or the occurrence of an event. I envisioned an
auto deletion button with drop-down calendar on each e-mail message so that
you can choose to auto delete each message individually on a certain date.
