Hi

I've upgraded to Windows XP Pro. I use onboard LAN to connect to the Internet via a cable modem. The problem is XP thinks it's a Network and every time I have to start or reboot my computer I have to click OK to Log On

I don't want to Log On. I am the only person living in this house and I am not on a network with any other computers. I have tried everything I know to stop this annoying Logging On screen everytime I start my computer including the Network Wizard an I click the radio button that I am not on a Network, but it makes no difference

Can someone please tell me how to get rid of Microsoft's annoying Networking

Thank Yo
Laurit

It doesn't necessarily mean you are on a network (standalone XP computers do
this). There is an option to log straight in but I don't use it - therefore
can't remember it (from another posting)

oops - I should have said NT computers (NT 3.5, 3.51, 4, 5 (2000), 5.1 (XP))
but only XP has the welcome screen - all others (including non welcome
screen mode) use CTRL-Alt-Del although earlier versions of workstation would
let you straight in if there was only one user and there was no password
set.

Try using Control Panel, Users and change the way users log on.

As an FYI, if you're on the Internet, you're on a network.
