I have a pirated windows xp professinal(the computer told
me) so today i went to buy windows home edition and the
computer wont let me!

Hello,

The computer wont let you what? Use the key for Home? That's because its
meant for Home and not Professional

Noelle,

I think I would get rid of that computer!! I would not have one that told me
what to do with my own money. I spend money on my PC as I see fit.

Now, do you have a question?

JAX

How did the computer tell you this?? a pop up I presume?
then you need to scan your pc for adware/malware
get adaware, spybot search and destroy, hijackthis.
and get a good firewall.
The pc won't let you buy xp home?? I suggest you get a
guard dog and contact a priest ...

I am wondering - did you buy an "upgrade" copy (could cost around $85) ,
or a full blown original (could be like $175). If you bought only an
upgrade copy, well sorry, you cannot upgrade XP Pro to XP home. At least
I don't think so. An upgrade copy is to upgrade from like Windows 98 or
ME or something.
...D.

To install Home on a machine with Pro you have to do a clean install.
First back up all data, and those files needed for reinstalling
programs. read Gary Woodruff's article on Files and settings Transfer
at http://aumha.org/win5/a/fast.htm for advice on transferring things
to the new system.

Then set the BIOS to boot CD before HD and boot the XP Home CD direct.
Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install. When it
asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the current
partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next stage

The important point is the delete. Without that it will just go ahead
and make a new install over the top of the old one
