Hung Telnet Sessions

I've had a frequent issue with XP and now XP with SP1
whereby telnet sessions hang and I cannot close them or
even shut down my workstation without powering off. As a
network admin I spend quite a bit of time in telnet.

This usually occurs if I leave a telnet session open too
long and the connection is killed from the remote side.
I do not see telnet as either a thread using plist or
taskman so there's nothing I can kill. The window just
sits there until I power off and reboot.

Any thoughts would be appreciated....
