I am trying to upgrade to a bigger hard drive using Drive Image 7 to copy
the disk. I am getting an error message that it cannot lock the drive
because another application has exclusive rights. This is on the D: drive
which is the destination so XP should not lock this drive up. I can access
the drive in My Computer. I tried disabling Mcafee Virusscan but no help. I
also have Systemworks running, minus the Symantec virus scanner and Ghost.
Nothing is showing in the Task Manager except Drive Image. Drive Image will
not run in safe mode and if I boot to the cd, it does not have the copy
drive option. How can I get XP to unlock this drive or disable applications
from running?

Thanks!

Try this:

1. Disconnect the PC from a LAN or modem (of any type) if you have one.
2. Go into Task Manager and End-task any open applications.
3. Disable your antivirus and screensaver (set the screensaver to 'None').
4. Open a command prompt and type:
Unlock D:
5. Exit the command prompt, and now try Drive Image.
