I updated office 2003 on the web and can no longer use hyperlinks in email
messages. System: WinXP Pro sp2.
Can anyone help please?

Outlook 2003 SP2 makes changes to the behavior of the Junk E-mail folder and also adds a new feature to prevent users from being duped by "phishing" messages. The Junk E-mail folder gets the behavior of a quarantine folder: All messages will appear in plain text, and no links will be active. If you want to see the HTML or click a link, you'll need to move the message to another folder.

For messages marked as phishing, links will remain inactive, even if you move them from the Junk E-mail folder. You will, however, see a note in the InfoBar at the top of the message that you can click to make the links active. You can also adjust this behavior with a new check box in the Tools | Options | Junk E-mail settings.

Is there anyway to turn this off so I can click on hyperlinks on Junk Mail
messages? Shouldn't there be an infobar option to "enable links" rather than
having to move the message to another folder?

No. Links in messages in the Junk Mail folder will never work.

I am having a similar problem but these are not messages in my Junk file,
they are news letters that I subscribe to and I cannot click the link to read
the news letter.

Can I disable the Junk Mail feature to prevent this problem>

Look at the top of the item. Is there an infobar with a warning message on it?

Occasionally it will be something like "Outlook has blocked . . . " THe
strange thing is that it was only one specific message and I won't get
another news letter until Monday; then I'll know for sure. I know that I am
living dangerously in terms of Internet Security.

You didn't give the entire notice (which would have helped), but I can guess that it's the notification that the message was suspected of being a phishing attempt. If you follow the prompt in the infobar message area, you can get access to the links.

My hyperlinks don't work anywhere in Outlook 2003 since I upgraded to Office
2003 SP2 yesterday. There are NO messages and Outlook just hangs. The same
thing happens with Word as the email editor except I get the message that
Outlook is starting Word as the email editor and nothing happens. I have to
stop Outlook and restart it to get email.

i have the same issue.

there is NO warning above the mail - the links are simply blocked. i cannot
directly link form ANY emails - even ppl i have been receiving mail from for
years. Linked content is a big part of my business since i need to view what
clients need me to view.....

why does Microsoft always think it knows whats best for me?? lol

some online info says to go to Tools>Options>Preferences>Junk Email and
uncheck the box that prevents hyperlinks........ but there is NO SUCH BOX to
uncheck!

this is so annoying i hope someone can either post a definitive solution or
get MS to fix the issue in an upgrade asap

There are so many issues that cause problems and frustration. Why aren't
these more traceable. I have been searching everywhere for help with
Hyperlinks. The select programme box that appears does not seem to help or
remember requests to find suitable Microsoft programmes. I for one feel that
more genuine support should be available. If I have a new product that is
misleading why should I pay for support when issues don't always appear
within 90days?

 I am still having issues activating my hyperlinks in email messages in my Outlook 2003.... I have followed the recommendations about changing the folders and making certain the HTML is activated but I still get this message.

"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I am the system administrator and I don't have a flipping clue! Please help!
