how do I set different column widths for same column in one excell

I am setting up a price list on excell. I need to set different column
widths for the same column, ie A1 should start with a width of 14 and then
change to a width of 30 by page 3. How do I do this?

on a worksheet, the columns are all the same width. on a second
worksheet you can obviously change the width. try merging cells.
