how do I record a voiceover with music

I am working on a powerpoint presentation, and the sales guy recorded his
voiceover and selected a music file to play. He wants them to play at the
same time and I am not sure how to do that????
 
If your music file is not a wav file, you have a pretty good chance that they
can play at the same time. See:

for why PowerPoint handles sounds this way.

So the simplest solution is to save the music file as an mpg, midi file,
etc. and insert it to play. See:

On the downside, distribution may be an issue because the music file won't
be embedded in the presentation. See:
