HOW DO I GET OUTLOOK ADDRESS BOOK TO DISPLAY BY LAST NAME

WHEN I CLICK "TO" TO SEND AN EMAIL AND GET "TYPE NAME OR SELECT FROM LIST"
AND ENTER A LAST NAME IT DOES NOT WORK. I WANT MY ADDRESS BOOK TO BE SORTED
BY LAST NAME
 
No need to SHOUT!!!

This is not a Word issue. The option is set in Outlook and with some
versions of Outlook esp. 2000 can be problematical as changing the sort
order can cause problems with the displayed text in Outlook contacts.

However in Outlook 2007, the sort option is set from Tools > Account
Settings > Address Books > Change.

In some versions the sort option is set from the Address Book > Tools
Options. If you can't find it ask in an Outlook forum.
