Hotfixes after reinstall of XP Home

I had some corrupted files so I reinstalled XP Home using my recovery CD. Now I can't download any Hotfixes through Windows Update. I don't get an error number, the site simply says there is a problem. I have run the Belarc Advisor and it says I need to reinstall almost all of the Fixes. I was told to set the system date back to before the first fix was installed and run the update. This didn't help. Other than installing the Hotfixes, XP seems to be running fine. I'm concerned though because of security issues

Can anyone tell me how to work around this proble

Hi,

Set folder options/view tab to show hidden and system files. Then locate the
Windows Update.log file in the \Windows folder. Double-click to open, scroll
to the bottom and locate any error codes (0x codes). Post back with them
here, or research here:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
